Trolleybus

Okay, kiddo, have you ever seen those big buses that run on electricity and have power lines above them? They’re called trolleybuses!

Imagine you have a toy car with a battery, right? When you turn it on and play with it, the car goes wherever you want it to go. Trolleybuses work a lot like that toy car, except they are powered by electricity from overhead wires.

So, how does this work? The trolleybus has a pole on its roof called a “trolley pole.” This pole is connected to the wires overhead which carry electricity, just like the way you connect a charger to your toy car.

When the electricity flows through the wire and into the trolleybus, it powers an electric motor that turns the wheels and makes the bus move. Just like your toy car only moves when you turn it on, the trolleybus only goes when it’s connected to the overhead wires.

Another important thing to know is that trolleybuses are very environmentally friendly because they don’t use gas or diesel like regular buses. That means they don’t put pollution into the air like other buses that cause smog and contribute to climate change.

So, that’s how trolleybuses work - a big electric bus that is powered by overhead wires like the toy car you play with, and it’s great for the environment!
