Tunnel

Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing with your toy car and you want it to go under your blanket. But instead of moving the car through the blanket, you decide to make a hole in the blanket and put the car through it. That's kind of like what a tunnel is!

A tunnel is a passageway that goes through something else, like a hill, a mountain, or even under a city. Instead of going over the thing or trying to find a way around it, people make a hole (or a "tunnel") to go straight through it.

Just like your toy car goes through the hole in your blanket, cars, trains, and even people can go through the tunnel to get to where they need to go.

Tunnels can be really helpful because they save time and make traveling easier. But making a tunnel can also be really hard work, and it takes a lot of planning to do it safely.
