ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ultra wide-band

Ultra wide-band (UWB) is like a super special type of Wi-Fi that can do really cool stuff.

You know how Wi-Fi lets you use the internet on your phone or computer without any cords? Well UWB can do some other things that regular Wi-Fi can't.

UWB uses radio waves (like Wi-Fi and radio stations) to send information back and forth between devices. It sends these radio waves in a way that is different from regular Wi-Fi. Instead of sending one big signal, it sends lots and lots of little signals all at once.

Kind of like if you were playing with a bunch of balls. You could throw one big ball to your friend, or you could throw a bunch of little balls all at once. That's what UWB does.

Because UWB is sending lots of little signals at the same time, it can be really precise. This means that UWB can help you do things like find your keys when you've lost them, or track people's movements really accurately.

So, UWB is like a super special Wi-Fi that can send lots of tiny signals really precisely to do cool things like finding lost items or tracking movements.
