ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Violence begets violence

Okay, kiddo, so when someone does something mean or hurtful to another person, that person might feel angry or upset. Sometimes, they might even want to do something mean or hurtful back to the first person as a way to make themselves feel better or to get revenge.

But, the problem with this is that it can start a cycle where each person keeps hurting the other, over and over. It's like a game of "tit for tat," where one person does something mean, so the other person does something mean in return, and it just keeps going.

This can happen between individuals, between groups of people, or even between countries. And the more violence that happens, the harder it is to stop. It can lead to even more hurt and destruction, and can make things a lot worse for everyone involved.

So, it's important to try to break the cycle of violence by finding other ways to solve problems and conflicts. That might mean talking things out calmly, finding compromises, or seeking help from others. It can be hard to do, but it's much better than making things worse by responding with more violence.
