ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Virtual influencer

Okay kiddo, so have you ever seen those pictures or videos of people on Instagram or YouTube who have millions of followers and they share pictures and videos of themselves doing different things and wearing different clothes?

Well, sometimes, those people aren't real! They are actually computer-generated characters called virtual influencers. These virtual influencers are created by people who use special software and computer programs to make them look like real people.

Even though virtual influencers aren't real, people still like to follow them and see what they are up to. Some people even pretend to have conversations with virtual influencers, like they would with a real person!

Virtual influencers can also be used to promote different products and brands, just like real influencers do. Companies will pay to have their products featured in pictures and videos that virtual influencers post on their social media accounts.

So, even though virtual influencers aren't real people, they can still be influential in the online world just like real people can be!
