Water Framework Directive

Okay kiddo, the Water Framework Directive (WFD) is a fancy name for a set of rules that grown-ups made to keep our water clean and healthy for all the animals and plants that live in it.

Think of it like a checklist that everyone has to follow to make sure that our lakes, rivers, and oceans are not polluted with yucky stuff like chemicals or trash. This is important because if the water is dirty or unsafe, it can make people and animals sick and even cause things like fish to die!

The WFD helps grown-ups make sure that everyone does their part to keep the water clean. It tells them to make plans to protect water, monitor it to check if it’s clean, and make changes if it’s not. Countries in Europe work together to follow these rules and help each other if there are any problems.

So, in short, the WFD is a set of rules that help keep our water clean and healthy for everyone, including fish and other creatures that live in it.
