ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wide area synchronous grid

Wide area synchronous grid means having a big electrical power system that is coordinated, or synced together across a large area. Having a synchronous grid is like having a big network with lots of things like power lines and transformers that all work together to make sure electricity gets to where it needs to go. When electricity needs to move from place to place, the power lines and transformers work as roads and bridges to help it get there - like sending electricity across a country. Having a synchronous grid helps make sure that electricity goes where it needs to go quickly and efficiently.
