World energy consumption

World energy consumption is the amount of energy that is used by the people and things that are on the earth. The way that the energy is used is usually in the form of electricity or gasoline. Electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels which releases energy that can be used to power air conditioners, computers, lights and other appliances. Gasoline is also made from fossil fuels, and is used to power cars and other types of transportation. When people and things use energy, it usually comes from power plants that are either powered by burning natural gas, coal or nuclear energy. All of this energy is used up, or "consumed", by the people and things that use energy.
