X-ray

Okay kiddo, have you ever been to the doctor and they've taken a picture of your bones? They use something called an x-ray machine to take that picture.

An x-ray machine works kind of like a camera. But instead of taking a picture with light, it takes a picture with something called x-rays.

X-rays are a type of radiation, which is like a kind of energy. They can go through some things, like skin and muscle, but not through other things, like bone.

So when the x-rays go through your body, they create an image that shows the different parts of your body - like your bones - and whether they're okay or if there's something wrong with them.

That's why when you go to the doctor and they want to check if you broke a bone or if you have something like pneumonia, they might use an x-ray machine to take a look inside your body.
