The Zimmermann Telegram was a very important message sent during World War I. It was sent by the German Foreign Minister, Arthur Zimmermann, to the Mexican government. In the telegram, Zimmermann offered Mexico a deal that, if Mexico joined the war on Germany’s side, Germany would give Mexico certain parts of the United States. The message was intercepted by the British, who then shared it with the United States. The telegram shocked many Americans and ultimately helped to bring the United States into the war.
