Zomia

Zomia is a big area in Southeast Asia where lots of people live but they don't have their own country. Instead, different countries like China, Thailand, and Vietnam are in charge of different parts of it.

The reason for this is because the land is very mountainous and hard to get to, so it's hard for the big countries to keep control over it. And the people who live there are often from different tribes and groups who speak their own languages and have their own cultures.

So even though they live close to each other, they are different from the people in the big countries nearby. They often have to live off the land and have their own way of doing things, which can be really different from what people in the big cities do.

Some people say that because of this, the people in Zomia are kind of like "rebels" who don't follow the same rules as everyone else. But other people say that they are just trying to live their lives the best way they know how, even if it's different from what everyone else does.
