ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

British war crimes

British war crimes are things that the British military did during a war that were against the rules of war. These rules were meant to keep people safe and make sure that people weren't killed or hurt more than necessary. Sometimes the British military broke these rules, like when they killed civilians in World War 1 and 2, or when troops in the past tortured prisoners. The British government knows these things were wrong and has said sorry for them.
