Indian Independence Movement

So, a long time ago in India, the British people came and took over the country. They said that they were in charge and the Indian people had to do what they said.

But some Indian people didn't like that idea. They wanted to be free and have their own leaders that they chose. These Indian people started to work together to try and get their freedom back. This is called the Indian Independence Movement.

The people in the movement used different ways to try and get the British people to leave. Some people would give speeches and try to convince others to join the movement, while others would organize protests and strikes.

One of the most famous leaders of the movement was a man named Mahatma Gandhi. He believed in peaceful protests and encouraged people to use civil disobedience. This means that people would refuse to do what the British people told them to do, like refusing to buy British goods.

The movement grew stronger and stronger, and the British people realized they couldn't keep controlling India. Eventually, India became independent in 1947. This means they were finally free to make their own choices and have their own leaders.

This was a great moment for the Indian people and is still celebrated today as Independence Day.
