ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ARM architecture family

The arm architecture family is like a big family of computers that are related to each other. Just like how you have different cousins and siblings in your family who all look a little different but share some similar traits, the arm architecture family has different types of computers that all work a little differently but have some things in common.

All the computers in the arm architecture family use something called a "processor" to do their work. The processor is like the brain of the computer - it's what helps it think and do all the things it needs to do in order to work properly. Think of it as the boss of the computer!

Even though all the computers in the arm architecture family use processors, they all use slightly different ones. Some might be faster at doing certain tasks, while others might be better at handling lots of things at once. But no matter what, they all share some basic features and work in similar ways.

One of the things that makes the arm architecture family special is that it's used in lots of different devices. Some of these devices might be things you use every day, like your smartphone or tablet. Others might be things you don't think of as "computers" at all, like the GPS in your car or the controller for your video game console.

Because the arm architecture family is so versatile, lots of different companies use it to make all sorts of different devices. That means even though they all might look different and do different things, they all share a common ancestry - just like you and your family!
