ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Acts 5

So in Acts 5, there were some people called Ananias and Sapphira who were part of a community of believers. They sold some land they owned and told the others that they had given all the money to the group. But actually, they kept some of it for themselves.

This made God angry because they were lying and trying to trick their friends. A man named Peter found out what they had done and told them that they had lied not only to their friends, but also to God.

When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. Soon after, his wife Sapphira came and she also lied to Peter. When he asked her if they had given all the money, she said yes. Peter told her that she had lied the same way her husband did and she fell down and died too.

This story is a reminder that God wants us to be honest and truthful with others, especially when we are part of a community of believers.
