Appeal to tradition

Appeal to tradition is when people try to persuade you to do things a certain way because it's what has always been done. For example, if your family has always gone to the same beach on vacation, then your parents might try to persuade you to go there again this year because it's what you are used to doing. Basically, if somebody wants you to do something because it's been done that way for a long time, that's an appeal to tradition.
