Argument from authority

Argument from authority is a way of trying to prove that something is true or correct by showing that an expert or important person agrees with it. For example, if an astronaut says that space travel is possible, that person is seen as an expert on the subject, so it might be easier for some people to believe that space travel is possible because the astronaut said so.
