Aquitanian language

Aquitanian was a very old language that people used to speak a looooooong time ago in a place called Aquitania. It was like their way of talking to each other before they even knew how to write things down.

Imagine you are playing a game with your friends, but instead of using words that everyone knows, you are using secret words that only you and your friends know. That’s kind of like what Aquitanian was like.

Nowadays, nobody speaks Aquitanian anymore because everyone who spoke it a long time ago is not alive anymore, so we don’t know exactly what it sounded like or what all the words meant. But, some people have been able to study really old things that were written down in Aquitanian and use them to figure out what some of the words and grammar were like.

Isn’t that interesting? Even though we can’t speak Aquitanian, we can still study it and learn about what people used to talk like a very long time ago!
