Archaeological field survey is the work of looking for and studying things that people from the past left behind. It helps archaeologists (people who study things from the past) to learn about how people used to live. Archaeologists look for ancient objects and things like old buildings and walls. They use special tools, like shovels, maps, and metal detectors, to find these objects and record the things they find. Archaeologists then study the items to try and figure out what life was like in the past.
