Asymptotic analysis is a way of figuring out how long something will take to do. It looks at the conditions of what you are doing and tries to guess how much time it will take. It works by assuming that the time it takes to do something increases as the amount of what you are doing increases. For example, if you are making a cake and it takes ten minutes to make one cake, asymptotic analysis would say that it will probably take 20 minutes to make two cakes.
