ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Auto-segregation

Auto-segregation is when groups of people or things separate themselves from one another without being forced to by someone else. It's like when you go to the playground and you see all the kids playing together, but then some of them start playing their own game over in a corner.

In the same way, sometimes people naturally separate themselves into groups based on things like where they live, their race, or what they like to do. This can happen because people feel more comfortable and safe around others who are similar to them.

Auto-segregation can be a problem because it can lead to people not interacting with others who are different from them. This can create misunderstandings and even conflict between groups. It's important to try to be open and welcoming to all people, even if they are different from us.
