Azimuth

Imagine you are standing in the middle of a big circle with a compass in your hand. The compass tells you which way is north, south, east, and west.

Now, imagine you want to know the direction of something that's not in the same direction as north, south, east, or west. That's where azimuth comes in.

Azimuth is like a special language that helps you describe what direction something is in. Instead of saying "that thing is kind of to the left and a little bit up," you can use azimuth to say "that thing is at an angle of 45 degrees from north."

So, basically, azimuth is a fancy way of saying how far to the right or left something is from north. It helps you give really precise directions without having to use lots of words.
