ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Biblical inspiration

Do you remember when you made a really cool drawing or wrote a story that you were really proud of? You probably felt like it was one of the best things you've ever made! That's kind of how people who wrote the Bible felt. They felt like they had a very special message from God, and that they needed to share it with the world.

When we say something is "inspired," it means that we think it came from someone or something special. So when we talk about the Bible being "inspired," we mean that the people who wrote it felt like they were getting messages from God that they needed to share with other people. They felt like God was guiding them as they wrote.

Now, some people might believe that the entire Bible was written exactly as God said it. That's not really true. The people who wrote the Bible were still human, which means they still made mistakes and had their own thoughts and feelings. But even though they weren't perfect, they still believed that God was guiding them as they wrote.

So when we talk about the "inspiration" of the Bible, we mean that the people who wrote it truly believed that God was helping them. They felt like they were sharing a message that was too important to keep to themselves, and they wanted to make sure everyone knew about it.
