Biomass to liquid (BTL) is a way of producing a type of fuel from plants and other organic materials. It starts by taking plant materials like wood, agricultural waste, and even algae, then breaking them down into their smallest parts. This process, called “pyrolysis” or “gasification”, heats the materials at very high temperatures and turns them into a gas form. Then the gas is cooled, condensed and filtered to turn it into liquid form, similar to petroleum-based fuels like diesel. This liquid is called “biomass-to-liquid” or BTL, and it can be used in a variety of ways, including powering vehicles and generating electricity.
