Bulverism

Bulverism is when you try to discredit someone's argument by saying that they only believe it because of their personal background or experiences, instead of actually looking at the evidence and reasoning behind their argument. It's like saying "you only think that because you're a boy/girl/old/young/etc." instead of actually listening to what they have to say and figuring out if it makes sense. This is not a good way to have a productive discussion, because it doesn't actually address the argument being made. It's like trying to win a race by pushing someone else down instead of running faster yourself. So it's important to focus on the facts and logic behind an argument, instead of trying to discredit the person making the argument.
