Cancer Alley

Cancer Alley is the nickname for a large stretch of land between New Orleans, Louisiana, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana along the banks of the Mississippi River. This area has a high number of chemical and oil plants, so it also has a lot of dangerous pollution. This pollution can make people very sick, leading to higher rates of cancer in this area than other parts of the country. The air and water in Cancer Alley often contain dangerous chemicals, so it's not safe to live there.
