ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Carbonated water

Carbonated water is basically water that is bubbly, kind of like soda or fizzy drinks that you might have had before. Sometimes, grown-ups will call it "sparkling water" or "seltzer water."

Now, the reason why carbonated water has these bubbles is because there is a gas called carbon dioxide trapped inside the water. It's kind of like when you shake up a soda bottle and then open it - the gas gets released and makes the drink all bubbly.

But with carbonated water, instead of being made with sugar and flavorings like soda, it's just regular water that has been infused (or mixed) with carbon dioxide gas. And when you drink it, you might feel the bubbles tickle your nose and make you burp!
