ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chemical looping combustion

Chemical looping combustion is like a game of pretend fire where we use special toys to make fire without actually burning things. Imagine we have some blocks called "fuel" and some blocks called "oxygen". Regular fire needs both of them to play together but we don't want that because it creates a lot of smoke and pollution.

So instead of playing together, we use a special toy called a "metal particle". This metal particle can pick up one oxygen block and carry it to the fuel block. The metal particle then attaches the oxygen block to the fuel block and creates a chemical reaction that makes heat, just like real fire!

But wait, where did the metal particle come from? It was hiding in a different block called "support". The support block is like a big brother that watches over the metal particle and keeps it safe. The metal particle can go back to the support block, pick up another oxygen block, and go back to the fuel block to start the fire all over again.

This way, we can make heat and energy without actually burning things and creating pollution. Chemical looping combustion is a cool way to make energy in a safer and more sustainable way!
