ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

College rugby

Okay, so you know how there are sports like soccer, basketball, and football that are played by teams in school and on TV? Well, rugby is another type of team sport that some colleges have teams for too.

In rugby, there are two teams with 15 players on each team. They wear special uniforms that make them look kind of like knights with no armor. The goal of the game is to get a ball and run with it or pass it backwards to other players on your team so they can run with it. The ball can only be passed backwards, not forwards like in other sports.

When a player on your team reaches the other team's end of the field, they can score by touching the ball to the ground. This is called a try and it's worth 5 points. After a try, your team can then try to kick the ball through goalposts to get extra points.

The game is divided into two halves and each half is 40 minutes long. During the game, the players tackle each other to stop the other team from scoring or running with the ball. Tackling means wrapping your arms around the person with the ball and bringing them to the ground.

College rugby is played between teams from different colleges. There are special leagues and tournaments that these teams can participate in, just like with other sports. Some colleges take rugby very seriously and even offer scholarships for players.

Overall, college rugby is a fun and exciting sport where teamwork and physical strength are important. It's a great way to stay active and make friends while representing your college.
