ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conservation status

Conservation status means how safe animals or plants are in the wild. It's like a report card that tells us how well they are doing. There are different levels, like a traffic light. Green means everything is okay, and the animals or plants are safe. Yellow means they are getting in danger, and we need to pay attention to them. Finally, red means that they are in very big trouble and we need to act now to save them. Scientists study how many animals or plants there are and how fast they are disappearing. They count them and put them into categories, like endangered or threatened. That way, we know how to help them and protect them from disappearing.
