Contrariety

Contrariety is when two things are very different or opposite from each other. Think of it like this - if you put a black and white shirt next to each other, they would be contraries because one is dark and one is light. Another example could be hot and cold - they are contraries because one is very warm and the other is very cold. It's like having two things that are so different that they are almost competing against each other!
