Cover-up

A cover-up is when someone does something they shouldn't have done, and then try to make it so nobody finds out about it.

Imagine you accidentally spilled juice on the floor, and you know you'll get in trouble if your parents find out. So instead of telling them what happened, you might try to clean it up really quickly and put something over it so they won't notice.

People might do cover-ups for a lot of different reasons. It could be because they're embarrassed, or because they think they'll get in trouble. But covering things up usually isn't a good solution because it means you're not being honest about what happened, and that can cause even more problems later on.
