Cruising rod

A cruising rod is a long, straight stick that is used for measuring how tall a tree is. Imagine you are in a forest and you want to know how tall the trees are. The cruising rod can help you figure that out!

So, how does it work? The cruising rod has numbers and markings on it that represent feet and inches. These markings help you measure the height of the tree.

First, you place the end of the rod on the ground, right next to the tree. Then, you slowly lift the rod up until it touches the very top of the tree. You look closely at the markings on the rod to see how tall the tree is.

It's important to understand how tall the trees are in a forest because it gives us important information about the ecosystem. For example, if there are only short trees in a forest, it might mean that the soil is not very good for growing tall trees.

So, the cruising rod is like a magic wand that helps us measure the height of trees and learn more about the forest around us!
