Cut (earthworks)

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with sand or clay and made a castle or dug a tunnel? Well, cutting in earthworks is like that but on a really big scale!

Imagine you have a big hill in your backyard, but you want to build a house on top of it. The problem is, the top of the hill is too bumpy and uneven for your house to stand on. What do you do? You need to "cut" into the hill to make it flat and even at the top.

To do this, you might use big machines like bulldozers or excavators. They will scoop out dirt, rocks, and anything else that's in their way, and move them to other places. This is called earthworks.

The machines keep scooping away at the hill until it is flat and level at the top. Then, you can build your house there! Cutting also happens when we make roads, bridges, or any other big construction project that requires a flat surface.

So, cutting is like digging or slicing into the earth to make it flat or even, and we use big machines to do it. Pretty cool, huh?
