Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was a document created back in 1789 by the people of France to explain what everyone's rights are. It basically says that everyone should have certain freedoms and rights, no matter what their gender, race, or wealth. It also states that everyone - even the richest people - should not be able to make laws that are not good for everyone. So it is sort of like an agreement between all the people of France to always act fairly towards each other. It is still used today by the government of France to make sure everyone's rights are protected.
