ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Device file system

A device file system is like a way to keep track of all the different devices you have connected to your computer. It's like a road map that your computer uses to make sure the right information goes to the right device. For example, say you have a printer and a scanner connected to your computer. The device file system would help the computer decide what data should go to the printer and what data should go to the scanner.
