Disability rights movement

The disability rights movement is a group of people who work together to make sure that people with disabilities are treated fairly and equally. Just like how we want everyone to be treated with kindness and respect, people in the disability rights movement want this for people with disabilities too.

This means that they want people with disabilities to be able to do all the same things that people without disabilities can do, like go to school, go places with friends, work, and be independent. They wanted laws to be passed that would protect their rights and make sure that they were not discriminated against.

Thanks to the hard work of people in the disability rights movement, laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act were passed. This law makes sure that people with disabilities have the same rights as everyone else. It means they can't be discriminated against at work, school, or in public places like stores or restaurants.

The disability rights movement is still active today, and there is still work that needs to be done to make sure that people with disabilities are treated equally.
