Distributism is like a puzzle with many pieces. Each piece represents an idea about how things should be shared or distributed in society.
At its most basic, distributism is the idea that instead of having a few people have a lot of money and possessions, everybody should have an equal share of them. It also stands for the idea that people should own the land, tools, and resources that they use to make a living, and not have to rely on renting or borrowing from large companies. So people would own their own farms, businesses and homes, and could decide for themselves what to do with them. Distributism promotes private ownership of businesses and land, and encourages strong communities and relationships between people.
