Domain wall (magnetism)

Okay kiddo, let me explain what a domain wall in magnetism means.

Do you know that magnets have a North pole and a South pole? Which causes them to stick to metal and attracts other magnets? Well, inside the magnet, there are tiny areas called domains. These domains contain atoms that all have their tiny magnetic field pointing in the same direction like an army of soldiers.

But sometimes, there are some magnets that have different domains pointing in different directions. These opposite domains want to cancel each other out and make the magnet weaker. So, to fix this problem, the magnet creates a border between the two opposite domains called a domain wall.

Think of it like a line in the sand that divides two different armies. In the boundary called the domain wall, the tiny magnetic fields of the atoms rotate, so they can align with their opposing neighbors. This way, the magnet can still work and be strong even though it has different conflicting domains.

And that’s what a domain wall in magnetism means! It's just the border between two different domains in a magnet that helps keep it strong by aligning their opposing magnetic fields.
