Electoral fraud is when people break the rules to try to influence the outcome of an election. It can take many forms, like people voting more than once, randomly adding more votes than there are people who voted, tampering with ballots, and buying votes. When these things happen, it’s hard to trust the results, because we can’t be sure who actually won the election. To try to prevent electoral fraud, governments have laws and rules about how people should vote, who can vote, etc., and they also use special technology to try to catch people who cheat.
