Hello there, little one! Today, we're going to talk about a big word called "epenthesis". It's when you add a sound to a word to make it easier to say.
Let's say you wanted to say the word "nest". But it's a bit tricky to say because of the two consonants "n" and "s" are right next to each other. So, your mouth might add a sound like "uh" in between the "n" and "s" to make it easier to say. Now, you've said "nes-uh-t". This added sound is called epenthesis.
People use epenthesis for lots of reasons. Maybe they're trying to make it easier to speak quickly, or maybe they're just more comfortable saying a word a certain way. Whatever the reason, epenthesis is just one of the many ways we can change the sounds of words to make them easier to say.
