ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Extragalactic planet

Okay kiddo, so you know that our solar system has a bunch of planets like Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn? Well, there are also planets outside of our solar system, in other star systems!

But did you know that there might be planets even further away, far outside of our galaxy, the Milky Way? That's what we call an extragalactic planet.

See, galaxies are like big families of stars, and the Milky Way is just one of them. There are billions of other galaxies out there too, and in some of those galaxies, there might be planets that go around their own stars, just like how Earth goes around the sun.

But it's really hard to study those planets because they are so far away! Scientists have to use a bunch of fancy telescopes and other tools to try to find them. And even then, they might not be able to tell for sure if what they found is really a planet or something else entirely.

So while we haven't found any extragalactic planets yet, the possibility is really exciting! It means that there could be all kinds of amazing worlds out there waiting to be discovered, even beyond our own galaxy.
