Face recognition

Imagine you have a superpower that allows you to recognize people's faces just by looking at them! That's what face recognition is.

Basically, our brain has a special area that helps us recognize faces called the fusiform gyrus. Scientists have studied how our brains recognize faces, and they've worked really hard to make computer programs that can do the same thing.

These computer programs use something called an algorithm, which is a set of instructions that tells the computer how to recognize faces. These instructions tell the computer to look for certain features in a person's face, like the distance between their eyes or the shape of their nose.

Once the algorithm has analyzed these features, it compares them to a big database of faces stored on the computer. If it finds a match, it knows who the person is!

In the real world, face recognition is used for lots of different things. It can help identify criminals by matching their faces to pictures or videos. It's also used in airports to make sure only the right people get on planes. And some people even use it to unlock their phones or computers!
