Fear appeal

Fear appeals are messages that try to scare people about something bad that might happen in order to get them to do something. For example, a person might be shown a picture of somebody with a sunburn to try to get them to put on sunscreen. These messages try to make people afraid of the consequences of not doing what they are supposed to do so they do it.
