Fertility

Okay, so you know how babies are made, right? When a sperm from a man goes into an egg from a woman, they join together and a baby starts to grow.

Now, sometimes it's easy for people to have babies, but sometimes it's not. Fertility is a word that doctors use to talk about how easy or hard it is for someone to make a baby.

For example, a woman's body has certain parts called ovaries that make eggs. If the eggs are healthy and the woman's body is working well, then it's easier for her to make a baby. But if something isn't working right, like if the eggs aren't coming out of the ovaries or if they're not healthy, then it might be harder for her to have a baby.

The same thing goes for men. A man's body has special parts that make something called semen, which has tiny sperm in it. If the sperm are strong and healthy, then it's easier for the man to help make a baby. But if the sperm aren't healthy or if they're not coming out like they should, then it might be harder for him to help make a baby.

Sometimes people need a little extra help to make a baby, like taking special medicine or having a procedure called IVF where doctors put sperm and eggs together outside of the body. But other times, even with extra help, it's still really hard to have a baby.

So, fertility just means how easy or hard it is for someone to make a baby depending on how their body is working.
