Fractal geometry

Fractal geometry is a way of thinking about and describing shapes that is different from what you might have learned in school.

Think about how in school you learned about shapes like squares and circles, and how those shapes are made up of smaller shapes like lines and curves. Fractal geometry is a way of describing shapes that are made up of smaller versions of themselves, kind of like a Russian nesting doll where each doll is a smaller version of the previous one.

Fractals look like they go on forever, no matter how much you zoom in on them. That's because the pattern that makes up a fractal shape just keeps repeating itself, over and over again.

Fractals can be found in lots of places in nature, like trees, mountains, and even snowflakes. They can also be used in computer graphics and in explaining complex mathematical concepts.

So, fractal geometry is all about describing shapes that have a repeating pattern that looks the same at different scales, and can go on forever.
