Frankpledge

Frankpledge is an old system that was used to make sure people in a small town or village stayed safe and peaceful. People in the community were grouped into 'tithing' groups of ten individuals, and each group was responsible for making sure that everyone in that group followed the law. If one person broke the law, the rest of the group would be punished. This system of group responsibility was meant to encourage people to look out for one another and take responsibility for their own behavior.
