ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Freight aircraft

Freight aircraft are planes that are used to transport things from one place to another, kind of like a really big delivery truck but in the sky! Instead of carrying people, these planes are designed to carry cargo or packages, like boxes or pallets, that need to be transported quickly and efficiently over long distances.

Freight planes come in different sizes and shapes, just like delivery trucks. Some are small and can fit in only a few packages while others are huge and can carry many tons of cargo. The cargo is usually held in the main body of the plane or in a separate cargo compartment, with doors that make it easy to load and unload.

Freight planes also have specialized equipment like winches, pallet loaders, and forklifts to help move the cargo on and off the plane. This way, the cargo can be transported safely and quickly to its destination.

Like all planes, freight aircraft need to be carefully maintained and inspected to make sure they are safe to fly. Pilots who fly these planes are trained to handle the unique challenges of carrying cargo, such as making sure the load is evenly distributed and that the cargo stays secure during takeoff, landing, and turbulence.

So in short, freight aircraft are planes that are used to transport packages and cargo from one place to another quickly and efficiently, just like a really fast delivery truck in the sky!
