ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gender-neutral pronouns

When we talk about people, we usually use "he" to refer to boys or men, and "she" to refer to girls or women. But not everyone likes to be called "he" or "she." Some people prefer to be called something else, like "they" or "ze." These are called gender-neutral pronouns, because they don't specify whether someone is a boy or girl or something else. It's important to use the pronoun that someone feels comfortable with, because everyone deserves to be called by the name they like.
