Golden Shield

Golden Shield is like a big fence made of technology in China, but instead of keeping people in, it keeps information out. The Chinese government uses it to control what their citizens can see and do on the internet. Just like how parents might put a fence around their backyard to keep their kids safe, the government puts up a fence around the internet to keep people from seeing things that they think might be dangerous or bad for them. This can include things like news that the government doesn't want people to know, or websites that they don't want people to access. It's called "golden" because the government wants to make sure that they can always control what goes on within their borders, and they believe that having this shield is very valuable for that reason.
